Best of Eastern Himalayas

Duration: 7 Nights / 8 Days 

 Go chugging up the Himalayas in a UN World Heritage train - the Darjeeling toy train. Yes, this package into the high reaches of East India is as exotic as it gets: deep jungles, tea gardens, mysterious pine forests, old world and Raj nostalgia and romance - Gangtok, Kalimpong, Darjeeling - even the names of the destinations have a lyrical ring.

 Day 1: NJP Station / Bagdogra Airport - Kalimpong (75 kms / 3 hrs)

 On arrival at NJP Station / Bagdogra Airport, transferred to Kalimpong (75 kms / 3 hrs) for an overnight stay at a hotel in Kalimpong.

Day 2: Kalimpong - Gangtok (85 kms / 03 hrs)

After breakfast, you will be taken on a half day sight seeing tour of Kalimpong which includes stops at Dello Hills, Dr. Graham's Home School, Flower Nurseries, Jang-Dong-Palriffo Brang Monastery and Durbin Dara Hill.
In the afternoon, drive down to Gangtok, the capital of the tiny Himalayan state of Sikkim with an overnight stay at Gangtok.

Day 3: Gangtok

After breakfast, a half day sight seeing tour of Rumtek Monastery, Droul Chorthen, Research Institute of Tibetology, Directorate of Handicraft & Handloom and Flower Show.
The rest of the day you are free to relax or explore the hill town on your own.
Maybe even shop for bargains at the local marketplace.
Overnight stay at Gangtok.

Day 4: Gangtok - Tshangu Lake - Gangtok

After breakfast, set off on a scenic drive to Tshangu Lake - situated at a height of 3,780 m.
Here nature seems to revel in her own beauty. You can play in the snow and if you are adventurous , go on a yak ride around the lake.
Return to Gangtok that evening and halt for the night.

Day 5: Gangtok - Darjeeling (115 kms / 4 hrs)

After breakfast, you will be driven through spectacular mountain terrain to Darjeeling.
After checking into the hotel, the day is yours & can be spent in relaxation, shopping and exploration of the hill station of Raj nostalgia on your own.
Overnight stay at Darjeeling.

Day 6: Darjeeling

It's an early pre-dawn start (4 am) and you will be taken to Tiger Hill to catch a spectacular sunrise (subject to weather conditions) over Kanchenjunga Peak.
A visit to Ghoom Monastery and Batasia Loop on the way back to your hotel, where breakfast will be served.
Afternoon: A half-day sight seeing tour of Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (closed on Thursday), Tenzing and Gombu Rock, Tibetan Refugee Self-Help Center (closed on Sunday) and a tea estate.
Overnight stay at Darjeeling.

Day 7: Darjeeling

After breakfast,a visit to Gangamaya and the Rock Garden. The rest of the day can be spent in relaxation, shopping and/or exploring the hill station on one's own. Maybe even ride the world- famous Darjeeling toy train which is listed as an UN World Heritage site.
Overnight stay at Darjeeling.

Day 8: Darjeeling - NJP Station / Bagdogra Airport (100 kms / 3 hrs)

After breakfast, you will be transferred to NJP Railway Station / Bagdogra Airport.
