Day 2 Morning city tour of Athens

This morning, after breakfast, set off on a voyage of discovery of this historic city. The morning city tour includes a visit to the Acropolis and its Museum. The Acropolis hill, so called as the "Sacred Rock" of Athens, is the most important site of the city and is also one of the most recognizable monuments of the world. It is a significant reference point of ancient Greek culture, as well as the symbol of the city of Athens as it represents the apogee of artistic development in the 5th century BC. Over the centuries it has silent witness to Athens chequered history. Indeed, Athens is a city with many faces and a stroll around its famous historic triangle (Plaka, Thission, Psyri) in the oldest neighbourhoods, reveals the co-existence of different eras. Old mansions, some well preserved and others scarred by time; luxurious department stores and small intimate shops; fancy restaurants and traditional taverns; all have a place in this city. After the tour, explore this amazing city on your own. Return to the hotel. Overnight at your hotel in Athens.(B)

Day 3 Athens, Saronic cruise

This morning, after breakfast, you will be transferred to the pier for your day cruise to the Saronic Islands of Aegina, Poros and Hydra. Lunch is included on board this charming cruise. In Aegina you can tour the Ancient Temple of Aphaia. In Poros take a walk to the clock tower and admire the panoramic view. Hydra is the favourite resort of the international jet set. Yes, the Saronic, known to connoisseurs of the good life and to lovers of history is a fine blend of culture and beauty. Return to Athens and overnight at your hotel in Athens. (B, L)

Day 4 Athens to Olympia

This morning, after breakfast, you set off on a 4 day Classical Tour. Your first stop is at the Corinth Canal where you visit the Theatre of Epidaurus before proceeding to the town of Nauplion for a short stop. Drive a little further to Mycenae and visit the Archaeological Site and Tomb of Agamemnon. Then depart for Olympia through central Peloponnese. Overnight at your hotel in Olympia. (B, D)

Day 5 Olympia to Delphi

This morning, after breakfast, visit the Archaeological Site of Olympian Zeus, the Ancient Stadium and the Archaeological Museum. Olympia needs no introduction. As its name suggests, it is the ancient site of the Olympic Games and the birthplace of the flame which burns even to this day. This is an ancient religious centre dedicated to the worship of Zeus, the principal god of the Greek pantheon, ruler of the heavens and the father of other gods and mortal heroes. The statue of Zeus at Olympia by Phidias was one of the old Seven Wonders of the World. After the tour, you drive onwards to Delphi. Overnight at your hotel in Delphi. (B, D)

Day 6 Delphi to Kalambaka

After breakfast, visit the Archaeological Site and Museum of Delphi. Of all the ancient sites in Greece, Delphi is perhaps the fairest of them all - the one with the most potent 'spirit of place'. Built on the slopes of Mt Parnassos, overlooking the Gulf of Corinth and extending into a valley of cypress and olive trees, this World Heritage Sites allure lies both in its stunning setting and its inspiring ruins. The ancients regarded Delphi as the centre of the world, for according to mythology, Zeus released two eagles at opposite ends of the world and they met here. It is also the site where the famed Oracle of Delphi is said to have delivered messages from Apollo to those who sought his advice. Later you drive onwards for Kalambaka. Overnight at your hotel in Kalambaka. (B, D)

Day 7 Meteora to Athens

After breakfast, visit Meteora the ageless monasteries that are the custodians of priceless Byzantine art. By early evening you complete the classical tour circuit at Athens. Overnight at your hotel in Athens. (B, D)

Day 8 Fly back home

Today after breakfast, bid farewell to beautiful Greece as you are transferred to the airport for your flight home. The tour ends at the airport. (B)
