The Shangrilla Experience-Sikkim

Duration: 9 Nights / 10 Days 

Sikkim: The call of this little Himalayan State, a modern day Shangri-La which is still uncorrupted by the onrush of civilization, is irresistible. Unwind in settings that are truly spectacular. Here the snow-capped peaks of the mighty Himalayas look down on quaint hilltop monasteries nestled in lush vegetation and silvery-blue rivers that slice through the valleys below. And while in the North-Eastern reaches of the country, you can take in the magical hill station of Darjeeling in neighboring West Bengal which is still flavored with rich Raj nostalgia.

Day 1: NJP Station / Bagdogra Airport - Gangtok (130 kms / 4 hrs)

 A transfer will be arranged from NJP railway station / Bagdogra airport to Gangtok, the capital city of Sikkim.
The drive is through rugged mountains draped with dense forests.
Spend the rest of the day relaxing or set off to explore this enchanted mountain town on your own.
Overnight stay at Gangtok.

 Day 2: Gangtok - Tshangu Lake – Gangtok

 After breakfast, set off on a scenic drive to Tshangu Lake - situated at a height of 3,780 m.
Here nature seems to revel in her own beauty. You can play in the snow and if you are adventurous, go on a yak ride around the lake.
Return to Gangtok that evening and spend the night there.

Day 3: Gangtok - Lachung (117 kms / 5 hrs)

After breakfast drive down to Lachung through picturesque mountain terrain.
Lunch en route.
Overnight stay at Lachung.

Day 4: Lachung - Yumthang – Lachung

After breakfast, set off on a truly memorable excursion for Yumthang valley which sits pretty in the far reaches of the Eastern Himalayas.
Overnight stay at Lachung.

Day 5: Lachung - Gangtok (117 kms / 5 hrs)

After breakfast, drive back to Gangtok.
On the way, you will get a spectacular view of the mighty Kanchendzonga mountain from Singhik (subject, of course, to weather conditions.)
Overnight stay at Gangtok.

Day 6: Gangtok - Pelling (116 kms / 5 hrs)

After breakfast, check out of your hotel and drive down to Pelling (116 kms / 5 hrs).
After checking into your hotel, you are free to relax or explore the rustic little hill station on your own.
Overnight stay at Pelling.

Day 7: Pelling

After breakfast set off on a full day sightseeing tour of Pelling and the surrounding area.
Vist Rimbi Waterfalls, Rimbi Hydel project, Khecheopari Lake and Kanchenjunga Falls.
Return to your hotel for lunch.
Then continue on the tour which covers Pemayangtse Monastery, Changay Falls, Singsor Bridge, Dentam village and the Alpine Cheese Factory. Overnight stay at Pelling.

Day 8: Pelling - Darjeeling (125 kms / 5 hrs)

In the morning, after breakfast, you will be transferred to Darjeeling (125 kms / 5 hrs).
Once you have checked into your hotel, you are free to explore the hill station (famous the world over for its tea gardens) on your own.
Maybe even drop by at the railway station and see the World Heritage train puffing up the last leg of its journey.
Overnight stay at Darjeeling.

Day 9: Darjeeling

It's an early pre-dawn start (4 am) and you will be taken to Tiger Hill to catch a spectacular sunrise (subject to weather conditions) over Kanchenjunga Peak. A visit to Ghoom Monastery and Batasia Loop on the way back, to your hotel, where breakfast will be served.
Afternoon: A half-day sightseeing tour of Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (closed on Thursday), Tenzing and Gombu Rock, Tibetan Refugee Self-Help Center (closed on Sunday) and a tea estate with an overnight stay at Darjeeling.

Day 10: Darjeeling - NJP Station / Bagdogra Airport (100 kms / 3 hrs)

After breakfast, you will be transferred to NJP Railway Station / Bagdogra Airport.
